On Item 3, Mayor Ed Lee's nomination of Barbara Campagnoli to the Entertainment Commission — identified in the record as the law-enforcement seat — drew questions about nightlife security and permit enforcement. Campagnoli, a 30-year San Francisco Police Department veteran, said she would lean on relationships with SFPD units and enforcement liaisons to pursue solutions while acknowledging she had no immediate prescriptive policy. "I served 30 years in the San Francisco Police Department before retiring 3 years ago," Campagnoli said in her remarks to the committee.
Public commenters spoke in favor of Campagnoli's nomination. Al Casciado, a retired SFPD captain, said he expected the commission would find Campagnoli "very accessible" and described her as a quick study. David Heller, president of the Geary Boulevard Merchant Association, noted his long working relationship with Campagnoli and urged support.
The committee moved the nomination to the full Board for confirmation without objection.
