Rules Committee advances two reappointments to advisory panels

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on Sept. 6 voted to forward two reappointments to the full Board, sending a reappointment to the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board and a nomination to the Board of Appeals with positive recommendations.
Chair Supervisor Chang Kim opened the meeting and Clerk Linda Wong called Item 1, a reappointment for Supervisor Malia Cohen to the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board. After brief public comment and no questions from committee members, a motion to move the reappointment forward with a positive recommendation passed without opposition.
The committee then considered a nomination announced by the clerk for the Board of Appeals. The nominee addressed the committee, summarized legal and public-service credentials and answered questions. The nominee told the committee she has practiced law for 15 years, described prior work as a public defender and identified herself with the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and said she welcomed reappointment to continue serving on the Board of Appeals. Committee members thanked her for her willingness to serve and moved her nomination forward with a positive recommendation.
Both items will next be considered by the full Board of Supervisors. The Rules Committee recorded no opposing votes on the procedural recommendations forwarded today.
