After the Workforce Investment recommendations, the committee considered additional appointment items and administrative matters. For Item 2, the committee recommended Anda Kuo to the Children and Families First Commission (one seat, term to 04/29/2014) after neither applicant was present; the motion was seconded and advanced without opposition.
Item 3 covered three reappointments to the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority: Kenzie Roby, Gustavo Serena and Luis Calderon each recapped their priorities (managed-care impacts, LGBT senior outreach and protecting IHSS from state cuts, respectively). The committee moved the three applicants forward with recommendation.
Item 4 considered two seats on the Sweat Free Procurement Advisory Group. Jason Oranger described sweat-free procurement work and discussed options to support local garment manufacturers (incubator approaches and public assistance). The committee moved recommended reappointments forward with recommendation.
The committee then convened into closed session under San Francisco Administrative Code Section 67.1(d) to discuss claims and litigation, moved items 6 through 17 forward to the full Board with recommendation and adopted a motion not to disclose.
All appointment recommendations and closed-session referrals were forwarded to the full Board as committee reports.
