Rules Committee advances repeal of ordinances/resolutions for several inactive boards and task forces

The items include: an administrative-code cleanup related to the Telecommunications Commission; repeal of the Presidio Neighborhood Representative Work Group (final report submitted 2008); dissolution of the Mayor’s Criminal Justice Council (last meeting 2008); dissolution of the Drug Abuse and Citywide Alcoholism Advisory Board (inactive for over a year); repeal related to the Children’s Collaborative Task Force (never convened due to quorum/court reasons); and rescinding resolutions that created the Arts Task Force (final report 2006).
Calvillo described the Clerk’s office process (Maddy Act annual review) and said staff intend to move to quarterly monitoring to catch vacancies and inactive bodies sooner. Members of the public, including merchants from West Portal, also spoke in support of the clerk’s effort to streamline obsolete boards.
The committee voted to send Items 4–9 forward with a positive recommendation to the full Board. The transcript records the committee moving the package forward without objection.
