Rules Committee forwards slate of board and commission nominations to full Board

Among the nominations advanced: Doreen Wu Hall was moved forward for confirmation to the Port Commission (term ending 05/01/2014). In her remarks on the waterfront she stressed fiscal and project priorities tied to America's Cup preparations and long‑term capital financing for deferred maintenance. The committee received letters of support and public testimony from former mayor Willie Brown and other community leaders and moved the nomination to the full Board with no objections.
The committee also advanced Jarrell Ramos to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency board (term ending 03/01/2015). Ramos described frequent transit use, concern about pedestrian safety and opposition to fare increases; several transit and pedestrian organizations — including the San Francisco Transit Riders Union, Chinatown CDC, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, and WALK San Francisco — testified in support.
Other nominees moved forward with positive recommendations included Kenneth Frausto (Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee), Oscar Grande (Eastern Neighborhoods CAC), Vera Hale (Commission on Aging Advisory Council), and three applicants for the Local Homeless Coordinating Board (Wendy Phillips, Kim Armbruster, Eric Brown). Public comment on the homeless-board appointments included both support and criticism of board composition and Sunshine Ordinance compliance; staff responded with attendance records and corrective steps explained on the record.
All of these nominations were forwarded as positive recommendations to the full Board with no committee objections recorded at Rules.
