The Rules Committee considered appointments to the Public Utilities Revenue Bond Oversight Committee on May 19. The clerk read that two seats were open and two applicants were present.
Brian Brown described his long service on the oversight committee since 2003, cited experience writing the economic section of the 2002 mayoral infrastructure task force report, and emphasized the importance of oversight for large, bond‑funded utility projects. Brown referenced large forthcoming expenditures (he described ‘‘lease up’’ and major sewer rebuild projects but said exact amounts were uncertain) and urged that programs be built on time and on budget to limit ratepayer costs.
Larry Lederman described finance, audit and project‑management experience, including work in the tax‑exempt bond market and as a controller at a solar‑farm startup; he said he had not yet met with PUC staff but would do so if the committee preferred. Committee members requested that Lederman meet with PUC staff prior to final confirmation.
Supervisor Farrell moved to reappoint Mr. Brown to seat one and to continue Mr. Lederman’s consideration for two weeks; the motion carried by unanimous consent.
Next steps: Brown’s reappointment will be forwarded to the full Board; Lederman was asked to meet with PUC staff and return to Rules Committee on June 2.
