Rules Committee advances IHSS Public Authority reappointments to full Board

Clerk called Item 4 to consider two seats with terms ending March 1, 2014. Mr. Boyd described decades of involvement in disability politics, work with disability leader Ed Roberts and experience as a home-care worker and union steward. Staff liaison Patrick Hoctal told the committee that Boyd "has the full support of our staff and also his fellow board members." Hoctal and others highlighted Boyd's decades of advocacy and public-service experience.
Alice Wong informed the committee in advance that she could not attend the meeting; committee members noted she had provided a written statement and voiced broad support for her reappointment. After discussion, the committee moved Mr. Boyd forward for Seat 1 and Ms. Wong for the other seat with recommendation to the full Board, without objection.
The actions are recommendations only; final reappointments will be decided by the full Board at a later meeting.
