Bridges, a finance executive with 25 years at Barclays/BlackRock and a long record as a Muni rider, outlined priorities for accessibility, affordability, reliability, safety, local hiring and fiscal oversight. Testimony in her favor came from a wide cross‑section: NAACP, Delta Sigma Theta, labor organizations, Walk San Francisco and community leaders emphasized her financial expertise, community ties and potential to improve Muni oversight. Advocates asked for subsequent outreach and meetings to address pedestrian, bicycle and equity concerns; Walk SF asked for time to brief Bridges on pedestrian‑safety initiatives.
Some supervisors said they had intended to continue other appointments because of the mayoral timing dispute, but that Bridges’ combination of fiscal skill and representing an underrepresented community on the MTA argued for prompt action. The committee voted to forward her appointment with a recommendation to the full Board of Supervisors.
