Rules Committee reappoints and advances Sunshine Task Force seats, meets in closed session on litigation

The Rules Committee advanced reappointments and new nominations for the Sunshine Ordinance Task Force (SOTF) and then met in closed session on existing litigation.
Clerk reported nine SOTF seats with 11 applicants. Current commissioners and applicants (including Richard Nee, Sue Coffin, Lisonbee Washburn, Henry Chan and Nicholas/Nick Goldman) highlighted the task force’s work on education, complaint adjudication and proposed ordinance amendments. Members of the public urged balanced gender representation and reappointment of experienced members.
Supervisors agreed to continue two seats (6 and 7) because of incomplete applications (Form 700 missing for one candidate) and to reappoint or forward the nominations for other seats. The committee moved to forward reappointments and nominations for seats 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and to appoint Hope Johnson to seat 10, taking those motions without objection.
After the SOTF items the committee convened in closed session to discuss items 5–8 involving existing litigation and settlements. Deputy City Attorney Cheryl Adams reported the committee met with counsel and will recommend items 5–8 be moved to the full board with a recommendation.
The meeting adjourned after returning from closed session. The SOTF reappointments and litigation recommendations will proceed to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
