The Rules Committee voted to forward Commissioner Claudine Chang’s confirmation to the full Board for a four‑year term on the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA).
Claudine Chang spoke to supervisors about her prior service and record, saying she had supported preserving large areas of open space on Treasure Island and advocated for a sustainable redevelopment plan with phased housing and protections for island residents. "We are witnessing years of social transformation on the island," Chang said, highlighting programs that have helped residents secure jobs and bank accounts and urging continued emphasis on services for children and families.
Several public speakers endorsed her reappointment. Jack Nathanson, general manager of Wine Valley Catering and a partner in a Treasure Island joint venture, said the project had created more than 30 jobs for island residents and praised Chang's role in supporting the initiative. Karen Knowles Pierce, chair of the Treasure Island–Yerba Buena Island Citizens Advisory Board, and Marvin Kasoff of Renew SF also voiced support.
Vote: the committee recorded a roll-call; Supervisor Daly voted no; the chair announced the item would be forwarded to the full Board.
