The Ethics Commission executive director presented the measure and said the proposal would close gaps identified during day-to-day filings and extend prohibitions to appointed and elected city officers who make governmental decisions but previously fell outside the ordinance’s explicit scope. The proposal also renames the relevant portion of the code as the Governmental Ethics Ordinance for clarity and makes technical conforming edits.
The committee moved the ordinance forward with a recommendation; no public opponents spoke during the brief public-comment window. The measure will be transmitted to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.
