Rules Committee fills three Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee seats, leaves one vacant for follow-up

The Rules Committee appointed three members to the Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee on Nov. 5 and left an incumbent seat open pending a continuance.
The clerk read the applicants and the committee urged applicants to speak. Paul Supawanik (transportation planning consultant), Diana Lopez (prevention director at the San Francisco Injury Center, UCSF) and Jay Lee (attorney and community organizer) each described professional and community qualifications pertinent to pedestrian safety and multi-modal planning. Mr. Howard Strassner, incumbent and PSAC secretary, said he had not received timely notice and asked for a continuance for seat 6; supervisors agreed to leave seat 6 open while staff investigates notice procedures.
The committee moved to appoint Supawanik to seat 10, Lopez to seat 8 and Lee to seat 9 and approved those appointments without recorded roll-call notation. Supervisors discussed occasional clerical problems in appointment notices and directed staff to look into notice procedures for the PSAC.
