The Rules Committee considered three agenda items covering vacancies and reappointments to advisory bodies.
Item 2 asked the committee to appoint two members to the Commission on the Aging Advisory Council. Clerk reading indicated Seat 1 must be filled by a District 2 nominee (Lila McCarthy), who could not attend for a medical reason and asked to appear at next Thursday's meeting; the committee agreed to defer that nomination until the absent applicant could appear. An incumbent nominee for Seat 8 (presented by speaker 9) described 30 years of perspective and said she wished to continue serving.
Item 3 considered one appointment to the Bicycle Advisory Committee (District 1 incumbent Mister Bindman). The committee noted the nominee's incumbency and attendance record and agreed to forward the nomination to the full board as a committee report so he would not need to appear in person.
Item 4 covered three incumbent seats on the Ballot Simplification Committee. June Fraps said she wished to continue serving; another long-serving member (speaker 10) outlined more than a decade of service and urged flexibility on district representation. One incumbent (Suzanne Stasevich) was unavailable this week and the committee agreed to forward names as a committee report so incumbents could be seated.
The committee handled the three items as routine appointments: some nominees will appear at the next Rules Committee meeting and several incumbents were forwarded to the full board as committee reports.
