The Rules Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Tuesday advanced a series of appointments to various city advisory bodies and commissions, forwarding nominees to the full Board with committee recommendations and, where needed, residency waivers.
Among the actions, the committee moved three applicants for three seats on the Community Advisory Committee — Jazzy Collins, Ada Chan and Angelica Kaubande — to the full Board with recommendation and agreed to grant residency waivers for two nominees. Supporters at the hearing highlighted Collins’s work as chair of the Stabilization Advisory Committee and the committee’s recent town‑hall efforts to focus funds in the neighborhood.
On appointments to the Immigrant Rights Commission, the committee heard 11 applicants for five seats. Nominees described work on sanctuary‑city implementation, legal and community organizing experience and plans for outreach tied to the city’s immigrant‑rights summit. The chair made recommendations for specific seats and the committee forwarded those recommendations to the full Board.
The committee also considered multiple applications to the Assessment Appeals Board. After candidate statements and public endorsements, supervisors held roll‑call votes on several seats and forwarded their recommendations to the full Board. For one contested seat the committee recorded a split vote and chose to send the nomination forward noting a dissenting supervisor.
The committee did not finalize the mayor’s reappointment of Eleanor Johns to the Airport Commission; three competing motions to approve, reject or take no position on the reappointment were introduced and the committee moved to table items 3, 4 and 5 for further consideration.
What’s next: The nominations and associated recommendations — including the residency waivers — will be considered by the full Board of Supervisors at a future public meeting.
