Rules Committee recommends three pedestrian-safety appointees, holds one seat pending ordinance

The Rules Committee moved to recommend nominees to the Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) for three of four open seats and held one seat in abeyance pending action on the pedestrian-board reconstitution ordinance.

Nominees who spoke to the committee included Pyra, chair of PSAC, and community advocates such as Katie Liddell, who described neighborhood-organizing after a fatal crosswalk crash. Applicants emphasized technical skills (mapping, analysis), local advocacy, Walk San Francisco and Senior Action Network ties, and experience working with the Department of Public Works and police.

Committee members agreed to nominate candidates for seats 1, 2 and 11 and to reserve the third seat because the pending ordinance will change the board’s composition; one supervisor noted that if the legislation passes, district appointees would be named and the seat structure would shift. The clerk indicated nominees will be forwarded to the full board for confirmation and supervisors said they would follow up on district appointments if needed.

The committee’s recommendations will be reviewed by the full Board of Supervisors.
