Rules Committee forwards multiple advisory-board appointments, including shelter monitor and SRO task force nominees

For the Shelter Monitoring Committee the committee reviewed six seats and multiple applicants, heard public comment about shelter conditions and the committee’s monitoring work, and moved forward Maxine Pawson (seat 1), Elizabeth Olsen (seat 2), Diana Valentine (seat 3) and Damien Ochoa (seat 4) with recommendations; Henry Belton reported he had been appointed by the mayor but attended the committee as a courtesy.
For the SRO Task Force the committee considered applicants including Suresh Patel, Seth Katzmann, Christina Olague and Wei Qing Quan. Supervisors moved several candidates forward with recommendation, and the committee approved a residency waiver for Wei Qing Quan so she could serve despite living temporarily outside the city. The committee noted several task-force seats remained open and asked staff to continue recruitment.
Why it matters: These advisory bodies conduct oversight, site visits, and monitoring on homeless shelters, developmental-disability services and SRO housing; appointments affect community representation on those panels.
