Deputy City Attorney Cheryl Adams said closed session was warranted "pursuant to government code section 54956.9(a) and San Francisco administrative code section 67.1(d)." Supervisor Alter recused herself from that closed‑session discussion because of a personal relationship with the plaintiffs. After returning to open session the committee approved a motion not to disclose the substance of the closed‑session discussion.
