Committee recommends appointments to SRO and Western SoMa task forces

For the SRO Task Force (Item 1) the committee heard from candidate Luis Borjana, who described three years’ work with the Central City SRO Collaborative and tenant organizing in the Tenderloin, South of Market and the Mission. Maria Martinez, Deputy Director of Community Programs at the Department of Public Health, said she has served on the SRO Task Force previously representing families and helped lead city efforts to recognize families with children living in SROs. A public commenter, Christina Logging, urged reappointment of Martinez based on her work across Chinatown, Mission and South of Market. The committee moved the appointments forward with recommendation.
On Item 2, Scott Kiper introduced himself as an arts manager in SoMa seeking appointment to represent arts interests on the Western SoMa Citizens Planning Task Force; Jim Micco, chair of the Task Force, recommended the nomination. The committee advanced the recommendation to the Board.
