The Rules Committee handled several procedural and appointment items after resolving the public-records discussion.
Item 2: The committee adopted a resolution revising the Board's regular meeting schedule for 2007, canceling several dates and the mid-August meeting block. Clerk Gloria Young presented the revised schedule and there was no public comment.
Item 3: The committee considered appointments to the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority but learned the authority itself had not been consulted as required by the ordinance. Representatives asked for additional coordination and the committee continued the matter to allow the authority to participate and to facilitate proper notice. The committee asked the clerk to aim to fill the vacancy within three weeks.
Item 4: The committee heard from an applicant for the Western SoMa Citizens Planning Task Force who described experience on South of Market advisory bodies. Jim Mico, representing the task force, recommended the applicant; the committee forwarded the nomination with recommendation to the full Board.
Item 5: Three applicants sought two seats on the SweatFree Procurement Advisory Group. Applicants Cynthia Flanagan, Sarah Lieber (listed professionally as Sarah Lieberchurch in the application), and Virginia Villegas each described qualifications. Valerie Orth, chair of the advisory group, spoke in support of Lieber and Villegas. The committee moved both nominations forward, approved a residency waiver for Sarah Lieber (whose application lists a Berkeley address) so it can be attached for Board consideration, and encouraged the third applicant to apply for future openings.
What happens next: Items forwarded with committee recommendations (Items 1, 2, 4 and 5) will be listed for the Board of Supervisors' consideration; Item 3 will return for further processing after the authority has been properly consulted.
