The Rules Committee considered seven seats on the San Francisco Health Authority and moved six reappointments and one new appointment forward with recommendations.
Jean Marie O'Connell, executive director of the San Francisco Health Authority and CEO of San Francisco General Hospital, described her long involvement with the plan and said the majority of members receive services from San Francisco General. "Being able to both hear feedback and give feedback on any issues is important to me," O'Connell said.
Sharon Kotabe, nominated by the Organization of Pharmacists in San Francisco, identified herself as chief pharmacist for the Department of Public Health and an assistant dean and clinical professor at the UCSF School of Pharmacy, citing experience at Laguna Honda Hospital.
Steve Fields, executive director of Progress Foundation, and Tracy Faulkner, a family advocate and members‑committee chair, also spoke about the need to integrate mental‑health and family‑focused services into the health plan.
The committee approved the appointments with recommendation and staff noted that three of the applicants will need residency waivers as part of appointment processing.
