The Moorestown Township Board of Education used its Dec. 17 meeting to recognize departing leaders and to update the public on district labor negotiations.
Board members praised Superintendent Joe Bollendorf for his two years of interim service. Bollendorf, who said he joined the district to help complete the superintendent search, thanked the community and said he would remain available to support district goals after his retirement. “It’s just been such a wonderful community... I found it very easy to pour myself and my heart into the things that I really believe this district needs,” Bollendorf said.
The board also recognized Cheryl McCopoulos, who is concluding her three‑year term. The chair presented a certificate and multiple board members thanked McCopoulos for committee work and steady leadership.
Separately, Danielle Miller, chair of the negotiations committee, reported that the board and the Moorestown Education Association (MEA) have established a tentative agreement on a successor collective bargaining agreement and that a memorandum of agreement is expected to be presented at the board’s January meeting. Miller asked the community to note that confidentiality limits the details that can be shared until the memorandum is finalized.
Committee reports reviewed curriculum work (including special‑education trends and scope-and-sequence documents), finance items tied to the referendum (state cost letters pending), policy first readings (mandatory updates and a recommended service‑animal policy), planned hiring of two accountant positions in the business office and facility projects such as the Baker HVAC replacement.
Routine agenda items, donations and personnel recommendations were approved by the board, and the superintendent’s HIB report and suspensions previously reviewed in executive session were approved with recorded abstentions. No final board action on the referendum site or bus yard location occurred at the meeting.
The board adjourned after offering final thanks to departing members and staff.
