Rockdale commissioners remove one rezoning from agenda and defer another to July
Summary
At a June 26 zoning hearing, Rockdale County commissioners voted to withdraw rezoning case 2025‑05 (applicant request) and to defer rezoning case 2025‑06 to the July 24 zoning public hearing so the applicant can meet with neighbors.

Rockdale County commissioners amended their June 26 zoning hearing agenda to remove one rezoning request and to defer another until July.
The board voted unanimously to withdraw rezoning case 2025‑05, a request involving 1.327 acres on Parker Road proposed for an assisted‑living facility; a motion to amend the agenda was moved and seconded and the chair called the vote. Commissioners then voted to defer rezoning case 2025‑06 — a request to rezone 53.32 acres from R‑1 (single‑family) to CRS (collaborative residential subdivision) for a 94‑lot subdivision at multiple Southwest Smyrna/Flat Shoals/Still Meadow addresses — to the July zoning public hearing on July 24 at 6 p.m.
Planning staff told the board the applicant for 2025‑06 asked for the postponement to hold community meetings and make adjustments to the plan. An agent for the applicant said the team scheduled a neighbor meeting for Thursday, July 10 at Rockdale Baptist Church to discuss buffers and reduced density and distributed flyers announcing that session. Staff confirmed the July 24 hearing date.
The withdrawn and deferred items will not be heard again at that evening’s session; any formal decisions on the underlying rezoning requests will occur at a later Board of Commissioners meeting or at the rescheduled July hearing.
