Kennesaw planners set presentations for two Central Business District applications; recusal noted

Community development staff told the council on June 30 that two Central Business District (CBD) conceptual applications will be presented at an upcoming meeting. Staff said one tract (0.6 acres) is proposed for a commercial pad intended to house the relocation of Mark Allen’s Lazy Guide Distillery; that application was reviewed by the KDDA on June 13 and the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) on June 20, and staff said HPC minutes and conditions will be included in the council packet.
The second application is for 2861 and 2871 North Main Street (the transcript describes 2871 as a former whistle-stop location and 2861 as a corner lot). Staff said the current concept moves a previously-proposed two‑story building closer to Main Street, aligning its architecture and depth with adjacent Main Street buildings; HPC conditions will require resubmittal of construction plans and setback information.
A councilmember announced they would recuse from the discussion of one of the applications. Staff said the full applicant presentation and supporting materials will be available when the packet is finalized and posted ahead of the council meeting.
