Warner Robins proclaims Parks and Recreation Month; swears in new police officers

The Warner Robins City Council proclaimed July 2025 as National Parks and Recreation Month and invited Parks and Recreation staff forward to accept the proclamation on June 16, 2025.
Parks and Recreation Director Preston Poser introduced key department staff and provided an overview of programs and operations, noting the department employs about '130 employees' including '29 full time, over 100 part time and seasonal,' and maintains '15 parks, a golf course, 3 recreation centers, a senior center, 2 tennis centers.' Poser highlighted recent events including a Juneteenth celebration that drew about 5,000 people.
Following the proclamation the mayor administered the oath of office for new Warner Robins Police Department officers. One officer recited the oath verbatim saying, 'I, Samuel Umushi, do swear or affirm that I will faithfully perform all the duties of my office...' The mayor directed officers to sign the oath documents, dated June 16, 2025, and welcomed them to the department.
Council and the mayor thanked staff and volunteers for work on recent community events and encouraged residents to visit city parks during Parks and Recreation Month.
