The Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District Board of Education declared the planned replacement of the district—s water infrastructure an emergency project at its regular meeting, citing the need to reconnect House 1 and House 2 and to restore electrical and water services ahead of the school year.
During the facilities update, Superintendent Dr. Theis and facilities staff reported that reinstallation of electrical power and water service lines between House 1 and House 2 is critical as Labor Day approaches. The board acknowledged work by the facilities committee, district counsel and State Education contacts to move the project forward.
A motion to declare the replacement an emergency project was moved by Daryl and seconded by Chrissy; the board approved the declaration. Administration thanked facilities staff and Brad Corvin by name for coordinating with State Ed and counsel.
Separately, the board determined the proposed action is a Type II action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (6 NYCRR Part 617) and found no significant environmental impact, allowing the project to proceed without a full environmental review.
What happens next: Facilities staff and legal counsel will coordinate contracting and State Ed approval steps to begin repairs; the board instructed staff to proceed under emergency procurement rules where applicable.
