Marlboro Central School District honors students and swears in student representative

Camille Brown, a Spanish teacher, introduced a middle‑school student nominated for leadership in her Spanish class, saying the student “shows extreme leadership skills,” helps classmates and is committed to improving her Spanish. Spanish Club advisors noted Azul was elected vice president nearly unanimously and praised her consistent support of peers.
Jennifer Young of the physical education department presented Max Giannzanti as Marlborough Elementary’s student of the month, calling him “a quiet leader” who is athletic, respectful and humble; the presentation noted he read 1,000 books last year.
Robert Jackson was sworn in as student representative for the 07/01/2024–06/30/2025 term. After taking the oath and signing the paperwork, Jackson delivered a report on school activities across grade levels. He said Barber Elementary students experienced zSpace virtual‑reality technology, third graders used programmable Ozobots in a STEM activity tied to classroom reading, and both elementary and middle schools launched Red Ribbon Week activities.
Jackson summarized district extracurriculars and student events: staffalty (staff vs. faculty) Olympics scheduled for Nov. 14, a middle‑school Halloween dance, the high school drama production on Nov. 16 (matinee and evening shows), and fall sports schedules including cross country, tennis and golf qualifiers and the football team’s away game. He also reported seniors had opportunities for instant college admission and attended the high school’s college fair; 20 high school students visited SUNY Ulster for a presidents’ challenge.
The board and superintendent praised staff who organized STEM and family engagement events. Superintendent Mister Bridal highlighted collaboration between a new STEM teacher (Miss Havlush) and classroom teachers, and said Power Up Night offers workshops for students and parents on college and career readiness.
The meeting concluded with congratulations to the recognized students and a reminder of upcoming events such as PSAT testing and winter sports registration.
