The Gratiot County commissioners temporarily suspended the regular meeting to convene at the county airport for the airport advisory session.
Airport financials: the airport manager reported a fund balance of $1,179,380. Fuel sales year-to-date included 5,003 gallons of Jet A and 7,066 gallons of 100 low-lead; managers said sales are recovering after poor spring weather. Planned near-term expenses include about $15,000 for a tractor and repainting hangars.
Lease and operations: A long-time hangar leaseholder moved away and a new lessee completed a lease transfer; the airport manager said lease documents will be updated and commissioners asked that any lease transfers be authorized subject to legal review. Commissioners and staff discussed the possibility of developing an on-staff mechanic as part of efforts to increase airport activity.
Procedure and next steps: The board approved the airport advisory committee schedule of public meetings (next public meeting June 25/July 9 as noted in materials) and later returned to the regular meeting to continue finance items. The airport manager will supply updated lease paperwork and follow up on equipment purchases.
