The Elwood Union Free School District held its reorganization meeting in February, administering oaths of office to newly elected and reelected officials and electing board leadership.
James Tomeo, reelected to a three-year term, was nominated and elected board president by a 5-0 vote after the nomination from a board member. Mrs. Weiss was nominated and elected vice president, also by a 5-0 vote; both officers were sworn in during the meeting.
The board briefly recessed into executive session earlier in the meeting on a motion by Mr. Scurrellis, seconded by Dr. Siddiqui, which carried 5-0. The public portion resumed later the same evening.
The meeting agenda included other routine reorganization items and acknowledgements; the board proceeded to accept donations, approve a consent agenda covering hires and administrative items, and set committee co-chair assignments for the 2024-25 school year.
The board did not record any roll-call dissent; all formal votes reported in the public session were unanimous. The meeting adjourned after administrative business and plans to reconvene in September.
