Caroline Weiss, Elwood's 2024–25 board student liaison and all-school president, reported to the Board on Sept. 11 about events and services across the district as the new school year begins.
"Welcome to all of our new students and families and our new teachers, staff, board member Mr. Edwards and of course Doctor Steele," Weiss said, and she outlined a slate of back-to-school activities: Harley Avenue kindergarten orientation, a joint Harley–Boyd PTA party on Sept. 13, Harley back-to-school night on Sept. 17, Boyd back-to-school night on Sept. 16, John Glenn picture day on Sept. 18 and John Glenn’s senior college information night on Sept. 18 (6–7 p.m.) followed by back-to-school night at 7 p.m.
Weiss also said Elwood Middle School has applied for the Schools to Watch designation and that EMS "continues to support 15 Elwood families each month through their food pantry and care closet." She noted upgrades to Boyd’s science lab and makerspace and summarized that clubs, sports and student government activities are underway.
Weiss closed her report with a video of student experiences and a rallying "Go Knights."
