The HORSEHEADS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Board voted on multiple routine action items during its December meeting, approving finance, HR and policy matters while recording a small number of abstentions on retroactive program approvals.

Minutes: The board moved to approve the Nov. 21 minutes and discussed a requested amendment to the president’s report to add an additional sponsor name for a dinner event.

Finance (7.03–7.14): The board considered the slate of finance items. Members raised a correction to a contract date and expressed concerns about incomplete codes in contract summaries; administration explained the codes will be added as part of normal processing. The president stated he would abstain on several items that began in July but are being approved in December; following discussion the slate was approved by voice vote with the stated abstentions.

Personnel (8.02): The HR slate included probationary appointments for teaching assistants, appointments of winter coaches, and recognitions of retirements and interim assignments (for example, Miss Malone serving as interim at Gardner Road). The board congratulated retirees and appointees; the HR recommendations were approved.

Section 9 (9.02, 9.03): The board voted on items 9.02 and 9.03. The president again stated an abstention on 9.03 for the same retroactive‑approval reasons; the items carried by voice vote with that abstention.

Policy (10.03, 10.04): The policy committee reported on recent committee work and the board voted to approve policies 10.03 and 10.04 after first- and second‑reading discussion. The chair said further first‑reading policies will return to the committee for follow‑up.

Executive session: At the meeting’s close the board moved into executive session to discuss an individual contractual matter; no public action followed.
