The Steamboat Springs School Board on June 16 voted unanimously to approve the district’s fiscal year 2025–26 budget and adopt the accompanying appropriation resolution. Cresta moved the budget motion and Leah seconded; board clerk Deb Genesta called the unanimous vote.
Board members then adopted a resolution authorizing the use of a portion of the district’s beginning fund balance for FY25–26. Board President Katie Lee made the motion and Laura seconded; the board recorded ayes from Cresta, Laura, Leah and Katie.
The board also completed a second reading and adopted policy EL‑5, titled “Commitment to Accomplishment and Accountability.” Leah moved adoption and Cresta seconded; the motion passed on a recorded vote.
Finally, the board renewed an intergovernmental agreement to participate in the coordinated election scheduled for Nov. 4, 2025, and appointed Deborah Genesta as the district’s designated election official. Katie Lee moved the resolution; Leah seconded and the board voted in favor.
Board materials and the meeting record show no roll-call dissent on any of the motions. Board members thanked district staff during the budget discussion: Cresta said, "Thank you, Stephanie and team," after the budget motion was made.
Next steps: the approved budget, appropriation resolution and beginning fund balance authorization become part of the district’s FY26 financial plan and will be implemented per staff direction; the coordinated election IGA sets the district’s participation and the designated election official for the November contest.
