Fiscal court approves fire department budget, accepts audits and clears grant applications

At its June 10 meeting the Greenup County Fiscal Court approved several budgetary and grant items, accepted audit reports and authorized vehicle procurement.
The court accepted the fiscal year 2026 fire department budget submitted by Chief Garth Wyman into the record and approved it. The Appalachian Foothills audit report for year ending June 2024 and the Grama Joint Sewer Agency audit report for year ending June 30, 2023 were placed into the record with motions that the court approved.
Grant Manager Eric Patton asked the court to approve a contract for design services tied to a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for the local volunteer fire department; the court approved proceeding with the contract. Patton also requested adoption of a resolution authorizing application to the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund and reserving required matching funds; the court read and approved that resolution.
On procurement, the court approved accepting all bids opened in May and authorized the purchase of one 2025 Kenworth and two 2026 Mack trucks on contract. The court also approved donating a surplus 2021 Ford Explorer (VIN ending A13886) from the sheriff’s office to the Flatwoods Fleet Department as an agency exchange.
Provenance: Audit acceptances, budget approval, grant contract authorization, LWCF resolution and the truck procurement were all explicitly moved and approved during the meeting.
