Summary
Task-force members told the board the district is implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), is using EduCLIMBER to standardize referrals and progress monitoring, and plans to expand student-support teams and tiered interventions across buildings.
District task-force members presented the Behavior Task Force’s goals to the board and explained how a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), PBIS and student-support teams will be coordinated using EduCLIMBER.
"MTSS is multi tiered systems of support," a task-force presenter explained while outlining how tier 1 classroom strategies, tier 2 targeted supports and tier 3 student-support teams interact. Presenters said the district created a standardized referral form in EduCLIMBER to capture attendance, basic needs and behavior concerns, and that the platform will allow teams to document interventions and progress over time.
Task-force members said the system already identifies roughly 89 elementary students currently monitored within tier 2 and 3 interventions and that the district is formalizing similar teams at the high school level. They described linkages to PBIS and restorative practices, and emphasized cross-building coordination with social workers, psychologists and DSS liaisons for students with basic needs.
Board members pressed presenters on applicability across grade levels and on how the system will be adjusted for elementary versus secondary classrooms; presenters said forms will be refined with teacher feedback to better reflect middle- and elementary-level needs.
The presentation concluded with a request for continued teacher input and monitoring as the district scales use of EduCLIMBER.
