Select Board approves licenses, permits, warrants and donations; sets conditions for mass gathering permit

At its Oct. 15 meeting the Select Board approved several routine business items, including license renewals, permits, financial warrants and the acceptance of donations.
Licenses and permits: The board granted a full-time malt, wine and spirits liquor-license renewal and a special entertainment permit to Michael McDermott, d.b.a. Mike's Clam Shack (1150 Post Road). The board also considered a mass-gathering permit for a road race submitted by Chip Haszewski of DVA Ventures/Endurance for an event at Wells Harbor Community Park in May 2025. Public safety has supported similar events in prior years; the board approved the permit on the condition that an updated certificate of insurance be filed and kept on record with the town clerk by February.
Warrants and donations: The board approved the accounts payable warrant dated Oct. 15, 2024, in the amount of $6,877,621.35 and the general assistance warrant in the amount of $951.19. The board accepted donations totaling $9,510.55 (itemized as $1,300 and $8,210.55 for Founders Park fundraising events) and separately recorded individual donations including $500 to the fuel assistance program; the board voted to send letters of thanks to donors.
Elections and minutes: The board appointed a slate of election clerks recommended by the town clerk for the Nov. 5 special town meeting and general election, and approved the Select Board minutes of Oct. 1, 2024.
Ending: The mass-gathering permit is approved subject to the applicant providing an updated certificate of insurance by February; other approvals recorded were final at the meeting.
