Select Board approves warrants, awards winter-maintenance bids and makes committee appointments

During its Sept. 3 meeting the Wells Select Board completed routine but consequential administrative business: reviewing and signing warrants, awarding bids, waiving a small library fee and confirming committee appointments.
The board approved and signed the accounts-payable warrant dated 09/03/2024 for $655,227.65 and a general-assistance warrant for $1,019.34. Members then considered bids: after reviewing submitted proposals the board awarded winter-maintenance services for the library, town hall and train station to Dean Ramsdell Landscaping, and awarded the sidewalks winter-maintenance and an all-wheel-drive vehicle (2024 Nissan Rogue) for the code enforcement office to Mark Motors under the terms presented.
The board also voted to waive the $1 replacement fee for library cards during National Library Card Month in September; Library Director explained the waiver was meant to encourage patron replacement and that lost-card fees historically bring in a small amount of revenue. Personnel business included announcing Joel Paris as the new assistant code-enforcement officer and appointing four members (Kevin Campbell, Elizabeth Howarth, John Howarth, Kyle Shoemaker) to the Veterans' Affairs committee. The meeting closed with routine minutes approvals and an executive session, after which the board made the committee appointments and adjourned.
