Commissioners and staff said the changes extend beyond the single Cherry Hills/Burgess Orchard topic that had sparked earlier hearings and could affect multiple neighborhoods and future missing‑middle or gateway planning efforts. Members noted that the city had recently solicited public input on a Main Street and gateway corridors plan and that code changes should be vetted in light of an evolving commercial‑zone planning process. Several commissioners said they wanted more members present and additional written responses before a decision.
Commissioner Jeff Davis moved to postpone further discussion to a later 2025 meeting; Michelle Shermer seconded the motion and the commission approved it by unanimous voice vote. Staff will collect outstanding questions and return the amendment with more detail and wider review opportunities.
