The Prineville City Council on Sept. 17 approved Resolution 16-03, authorizing a sublease and co-location agreement on Stearns Butte to expand public-safety radio coverage into Juniper Canyon and across Milliken Valley.
James Wilson, technology manager for the City of Prineville, told council the agreement allows the city to co-locate on an existing communications tower and that the sublease term is coterminous with the primary site lease. Wilson said legal review found no exceptions and that the fiscal impact on the emergency dispatch fund is approximately $8,000 for the current fiscal year.
The resolution was moved and seconded; council members voted aye and the motion carried unanimously. Wilson said the co-location will help fill radio coverage gaps for emergency dispatch in identified neighborhoods and valleys.
The agreement will be processed through the city’s standard contracting procedures; staff did not list further implementation dates during the meeting.
