Council approves hospital board appointment, swears in appointee

The Excelsior Springs City Council unanimously approved resolution 1525 on Sept. 16 to appoint Brian Yarborough to a four‑year term on the hospital board.
City Manager Molly McGovern notified the council of the vacancy and said Mayor Mark Spahn appointed Yarborough. "The mayor has appointed Brian Yarborough for the council to consider, and he is here tonight if you wish to swear him in," McGovern said. The council then moved, seconded and voted by roll call to approve the resolution.
Following the vote, Yarborough approached the dais and was administered the oath of office. The oath as read in the transcript asked the appointee to swear that he possessed the qualifications, would abide by U.S. and Missouri laws and the city's ordinances, and would faithfully perform the duties of the office.
The appointment fills a vacancy on the hospital board for a four‑year term. The council recorded a unanimous affirmative vote during the roll call on the resolution.
