City staff also updated the Council on solid-waste service: the trash company has expressed interest in returning to a five-day-a-week pickup schedule and will mail postcards and post a new map on the city website showing a new pickup map, with the new schedule slated to take effect the week of Jan. 6, 2025. Staff noted the contract/bid timeline for deciding whether to re-bid or renew must be addressed by the next council meeting.
In closing remarks, councilmembers encouraged residents to shop locally following Small Business Saturday and recognized long-serving public employees, including Bridal Smith (37 years) and Fire Chief Joe Maddock (30 years). The council adjourned following the remarks.
