Board extends asset-tracking contract that logs voting machines and pollbooks

Michael Vicente, credential aide to the superintendent of elections, described a proposed two-year extension with EasyVote Solutions to provide asset-tracking software and handheld scanning for county elections equipment. Vicente told commissioners the system currently tracks voting machines, electronic poll books and seals via barcode; handheld scanners read barcodes and sync to a warehouse desktop over Wi‑Fi. The elections office said it might consider RFID in the future but that barcodes are sufficient for the county's needs at present.

Commissioners asked follow-up questions about what assets would be tracked, the vendor's performance, and software backup procedures. Vicente said the handheld logs are stored locally in the warehouse network and that there were no known issues with the vendor's services to date. The motion to extend the contract was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
