Board approves polling‑place ramp contract and extends voting‑machine support contract

Director Amos and Board of Elections staff asked the board to approve a contract with New Jersey Mobility (AmRamp franchise) to provide temporary handicap ramps at polling places from April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2026, not to exceed $76,830. The director said ramps are moved into place before an election and removed afterward to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Nicole Lamas, Clerk for the Board of Elections, told commissioners the elections office annually surveys each polling location for accessibility and that the office can and will work with municipalities where existing lifts or accessibility features need to be coordinated. “We recently had a polling location that checked all of the boxes. We couldn’t use that polling location because of the distance and because it did not provide a ramp and it was not easily accessible to those with mobility issues,” Lamas said.
The board also approved a two‑year extension of a contract with Election Graphics for voting‑machine certification and logic‑and‑accuracy testing. Superintendent Patricia Spango said the current vendor has performed this work and staff recommended the extension; Chris Williams of Election Graphics introduced the company’s role in testing and certification.
Both items were moved and approved on roll call.
