County authorizes $9.41M NJDOT federal-aid agreement for intersection improvements

David Antonio of the Department of Public Works told the board the agreement will allow the county to execute the mechanism to get reimbursed for intersection reconstruction; project locations named included Valley and First, Valley and Third, and several Park/Valley/Oakland-area intersections in South Orange and Maplewood. Antonio said the county already has project design work in the street and expects to advertise and receive bids soon, with construction potentially starting in April or May.
Commissioners asked about the prior-year funding levels and were told the amount varies by the number and scope of intersections in a given year; Antonio said the current figure reflects the selected projects. The resolution carries no county match, according to administration.
The board approved the multi-item package that included the federal-aid agreement on roll call.
