A staff member reviewed the Missouri American Water charges and explained that a low May bill reflected unusually wet weather and reduced irrigation use. “That is the May service…we had a very wet May, and so we didn't have any irrigation running. We started up irrigation in June,” staff said. The staff member added that a broken line at Trace Park also affected charges and that the higher charges elsewhere reflected restored irrigation activity.
The staff member said the city will turn irrigation off if the board directs it. Board members suggested adding “the future of Preservation Park” to the retreat agenda to consider maintenance levels and potential cost savings.
