The Board of Aldermen on Nov. 12 read three ordinances and discussed administrative business including employee benefits, the warrant list and community events.
The city clerk read bill 24-58, an ordinance authorizing renewal of an agreement with Delta Dental of Missouri for the city's group dental benefit plan for employees. The board continued formal consideration of the ordinance to the Nov. 25 meeting.
Mayor Raine presented a warrant list totaling $203,003.42 and sought approval. Alderman Hughes asked the city administrator to review a Pathway Solutions charge of $529.50 and requested a list of current and prospective marketing and media projects. Staff agreed to provide the requested project list.
Orland Allen reported that the Voice and Means commission had unanimously approved the 2025 budget and praised the budget presentation. City administrator Mister Sheldon said Navigate, the consultant conducting a facility needs assessment for city hall and the fire station, would present initial findings to the board in January and that budgeted funds have been set aside to begin design work in 2025.
Parks-and-Trails announcements included a "Turkey Drop" Thanksgiving morning with a 5K and a children's run, and a Winter Fest scheduled for Dec. 7 from noon to 5 p.m.; residents were directed to the city's website for registration and sponsor information.
Why it matters: The Delta Dental renewal affects employee benefits; the warrant list represents authorized municipal expenditures; the facility assessment and budget items indicate capital planning steps and funding allocations to be developed in 2025. Formal action on the dental renewal and the bills was continued to the Nov. 25 meeting.
