The Mexico City Council on July 22 approved the street department's recommendation to purchase a concrete breaker (for an excavator/skid steer) and a wheel-loader bucket within the current fiscal-year budget.
Staff said the city received two bids: Martin Equipment of Columbia, Missouri, quoted $39,900 including a $1,500 trade-in, while Ware Parts & Equipment of Aurora, Colorado, quoted about $38,457 but the Ware bid did not meet the city's specifications. Staff recommended purchasing from Martin Equipment and keeping the existing wheel-loader bucket as a backup rather than trading it in; that option raised the recommended purchase price to $41,400 with no trade-in. Staff described the heavy-duty breaker and clamshell-style loader bucket as high-use equipment meant to reduce wear and repairs on existing units.
The council moved to approve the purchase and the motion carried on recorded verbal votes.
