Pompton Lakes Borough Council approved several routine and substantive items during its recent meeting, including a shared service agreement for vegetative waste disposal, the adoption of a property-sale ordinance and the introduction of a bond ordinance for capital improvements.
Council voted to adopt Resolution 24-407, a shared-service agreement with the Borough of Bloomingdale covering yard waste, sticks and branches; the agreement continues the current practice of bringing vegetative material to Bloomingdale’s compost facility and onward to RER Recycling in Riverdale. Administrator Michael said staff reviewed alternatives and found none that offered cost savings.
Council introduced Bond Ordinance 24-40, appropriating $731,200 for various borough improvements and authorizing the issuance of $548,672 in bonds or notes for the work. The ordinance was moved for introduction and carried on the council vote.
On Ordinance 24-39 (property sale), Administrator Michael said the ordinance lists properties to be offered and that staff will publish bid solicitations with a Nov. 14 deadline; potential buyers must submit bids by that date and the council may consider awarding a bid in December. After public comment was closed the council moved to adopt the ordinance.
The council also approved the Compton Lakes Chamber of Commerce request to close Wanam Q Avenue for the annual Holiday Stroll on Dec. 7 (rain date Dec. 8) and to post a promotional banner from Nov. 10 to Dec. 9; county and emergency services were notified in advance.
