Council reviews small grants, ParkMobile launch and salt-dome delay

At the Dec. 12 meeting Pompton Lakes officials announced several administrative and grant items affecting municipal services and projects.
ParkMobile on-street parking has gone live and the borough has seen increased revenue since the launch, the administration said. Officials said they will continue to monitor usage and provide monthly updates to the governing body.
Administrator Michael Corelli described a $10,000 grant from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to develop a community energy plan and presented a Colliers Engineering proposal to perform the work for $13,000. The shortfall of $3,000 would be covered from identified municipal funds and the contract will be placed on the January agenda for formal approval.
The council also discussed Resolution 24-441, authorizing application for up to $5,000 from the State Division of Urban and Community Forestry to update the borough’s community forestry management plan and to fund professional services. The administrator explained the grant funds professional service work; the council expressed support for applying.
Public works updates included a delay in completion of a new salt-storage dome; the borough arranged temporary storage with Bloomingdale to ensure road crews have access to salt for winter operations until the new dome is finished shortly after the New Year.
Administrators also reported that a planned demolition at the A-1 Auto Body site is scheduled after utilities are disconnected; remediation and grant reimbursement steps will follow and open-space planning will consider future park uses for the parcel.
