Council approves resolution to amend vehicle and equipment fund for missed capital items

Springville City Council approved Resolution 2024-23 at its meeting to open and amend the vehicle and equipment fund budget for capital expenses in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, covering three missed items identified after the budget was adopted.

The amendment was introduced by Mr. Bridal, a city staff member, who called it "a fairly routine budget amendment" and said the city had missed three lines in the vehicle and equipment fund. "We made it about 2 days into the new budget year in July when I became aware of a couple of items we've missed," he said, listing computer replacement equipment for the IS department; a new ambulance for the fire department; and an additional $25,000 for replacement equipment on the CRC's dry side.

City staff told the council the funding would come from a combination of reserves already in the vehicle and equipment fund or from transfers departments will make in the current year. The presenter characterized the items as oversights in the budget process and not the result of other extenuating circumstances.

A public hearing was opened as required; no members of the public spoke, and a council member moved to close the hearing. "I'll motion to approve resolution number 2024Dash23 to open and amend the vehicle and equipment fund budget for capital expenses applying to the fiscal year ending 06/30/2025 as outlined in exhibit a," a council member said before the roll call.

The roll call recorded affirmative votes from Jake, Logan, Craig, Mike and Mindy; the motion was declared approved. There was no recorded amendment to the resolution during the meeting and no public opposition on the record.

Following the vote, a council member moved to adjourn and the meeting ended shortly thereafter.
