Smithville aldermen approve multiple ordinances and routine resolutions; rezoning passes 4-2

At the regular meeting, the Smithville Board of Aldermen approved multiple bills and routine resolutions on a mostly unanimous basis, with the most divided vote occurring on a rezoning measure at the corner of 169 and W Highway.
Rezoning (Bill 3040-24): Alderman Atkins moved to approve bill 3040-24 rezoning the southeast corner of 169 and W Highway. The clerk recorded roll-call votes as follows: Alderman Shipley Aye, Alderman Kabilski Aye, Alderman Wilson No, Alderman Hartman Aye, Alderman Atkins Aye, Alderman Russell No; the motion passed 4-2. The clerk (Miss Wagner) read the ordinance language describing the parcels affected and the change in zoning district.
Zoning/subdivision and business license amendments: The council approved bill 3041-24 (amendments to sections of chapter 400 of the zoning code and chapter 425 of the subdivision code pertaining to fees and costs) and bill 3042-24 (amendments to business license regulations). Both ordinances passed on roll call 6-0.
Routine resolutions: Resolution 14-06 (leak adjustment) passed on voice vote. Resolution 14-07 (temporary liquor license) passed with one recorded abstention (Kelly).
