Board issues proclamations and recognizes school staff during March observances

At its March 6 meeting the Danville school board recognized bookkeepers for audit performance, proclaimed School Social Worker Week, Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month and invited honorees forward for certificates and photos.
The Danville Public Schools board paused March 6 to recognize staff and mark several March observances.
Doctor Harrison presented recognition certificates to school bookkeepers and highlighted that 12 schools had zero audit findings this year. He named a roster of bookkeepers in attendance and invited the board and honorees for photographs.
The board proclaimed School Social Worker Week, with the superintendent and Sheree Walker (student support services coordinator) describing social workers’ roles—attendance monitoring, home visits, attendance audits, crisis intervention and McKinney‑Vento support. The board also proclaimed Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month; presenters listed local student showcases, library and community events and recent assessment ratings, encouraging trustees and the public to attend performances and exhibits.
The honors were presented as part of the consent/recognition portion of the agenda; these items were introduced for board acknowledgement and did not carry separate contested votes.
